Bell Hopscotch Rabbit liked to draw pictures and make sweets.
Most of all, she loved to invite her friends over for tea parties.
She sent her friends invitations saying
“Come to my house for some sweets!”
Each invitation had a delicious-looking picture of Bell’s sweets.
Bell's friends loved the invitations. It made their mouths water! Bell decorated her sweets beautifully and placed them all out on the table before she greeted her friends.
“Great to see you!” Bell said to her friends.
Bell put all of her heart into planning her tea parties, and her friends enjoyed them very much. One day, Sarah Hazelnut Chipmunk thought of something.
“Bell, do you remember that delicious cake we ate a long time ago?” Sarah asked.
“I’d like to try that cake again.”
“I remember that cake too”, replied Bell.
“Let’s try to make it.”
But Bell and Sarah were little girls when they ate that cake, and they did not remember it very well.
“I think it had peanuts in it”, said Sarah.
“And there was cream on top...wasn’t there?” added Bell.
The two girls tried again and again to make the cake like they remembered it, but none of their cakes were quite right. By then, the kitchen was covered in flour and the girls were about to give up.
Just then, Bell's mother Heidi Hopscotch Rabbit walked into the kitchen with one of Bell's old sketchbooks.
“Is this it?” Heidi asked.
There in the sketchbook was a picture of Bell and her family eating the first cake Bell had ever baked with her mother.
“That’s it!” cried Bell.
“That’s the cake!”
Bell put a lot of work into making that cake, and she was so happy that everybody liked it. She drew a picture so that she wouldn’t forget it, and her mother kept the picture.
“Thank you, Mom!” cried Bell.
Bell, her mother, and Sarah baked the cake again. They even decorated the cake with pretty strawberries and peanuts. The cake looked just like the picture. When Bell and Sarah ate the cake, it tasted just as good as they remembered. Bell and Sarah invited their other friends over for a tea party.
Their friends loved the cake.
“Mmmmmm!” they cried.
Bell and Sarah were so happy to hear that, they smiled from ear to ear. Their memory cake brought them another happy memory.
