One day, Bell, the Hopscotch Rabbit girl, went to the Sea Breeze Cape with her family and friends.
The children were very excited. Sabrina, the Sandy Cat girl had sent them a letter saying
“Something wonderful has happened! Come and see!”
“I wonder what it could be?”
the children asked each other as they rode to the Sea Breeze Cape in the car.
When they got to the beach, the children saw a surprising sight through the window of the car.
“What’s that?” asked Bell.
“It looks like a big ice cream”,
said Nel, the Persian Cat baby.
A great big ice cream was standing by the sea.
The children ran up to look at it and saw that it was a sign for a new ice cream shop!
Sandra, the Sandy Cat mother greeted the surprised children with a smile.
“Welcome to the Seaside Ice Cream Shop!” she said.
“I planned it in secret so that I could surprise you. You’re our first customers!”
At the counter were tubs of ice cream in all different colors.
“Wow, they’re so pretty!” cried Bell.
“What kind of ice cream is this?”
asked Dominic, the Hazelnut Chipmunk boy.
“This is cherry ice cream”, replied Sandra.
“The blueberry ice cream is good too”,
added Sabrina, who was busy helping.
The ice cream was cool and delicious – just right for a hot day. The children were delighted.
“I’ve never tried this kind of ice cream before”, said Bell .
“It’s delicious!”
The babies were happy too as they sat on fruit-shaped chairs and a bench that moved like a see-saw, eating their favourite flavors of ice cream.
But Honey, the Hopscotch Rabbit baby didn’t order an ice cream. When Sandra asked her what she wanted , she pointed at the big ice cream-shaped sign and said
“I want that big ice cream!”
Honey had thought the ice creams at the shop were really as big as the sign. She had been looking forward to eating such a big ice cream, and was very disappointed to find out that it wasn’t real.
“We don’t have an ice cream as big as that, but how about this one?”
suggested Sandra, handing Honey a special ice cream with five scoops.
Then Sandra pointed to the sign and said
“Would you like to climb inside the ice cream?”
Sandra led Honey inside. There was a terrace with a bench and a lookout where they could see across the beach.
“I’m in the big ice cream!” cried Honey.
Honey’s ice cream tasted even better as she looked out at the big blue sea and felt the lovely sea breeze blowing around her.
The other babies climbed up after her.
“I can see your grandad’s cruiser!”
cried Jordan, the Hazelnut Chipmunk baby .
Bell and the other children waved to the babies from the terrace below.
Everybody was happy as they looked out at the sparkling sea. Now that there was another place to enjoy, the children looked forward to visiting the Sea Breeze Cape even more.
